Company Philosophy and Mission Statement We believe that private property is the foundation of America. Private property and free markets go hand in hand—without property there is no freedom. We also believe that free markets, not government intervention, hold the key to natural resource conservation and environmental preservation. No government bureaucrat can (or will) understand and treat the land with as much respect as its owner. The bureaucrat simply does not have the same motives as does the owner of a capital interest in the property. Our specialty is the working livestock ranch simply because there are so many very good reasons for owning such a property. In addition to the benefit of income from the livestock operation, these include: Tax Shelter (Income and Estate) Inflation hedge Capital gains potential Recreation Wildlife Life style and maintenance of the rural, western heritage Conservation and environmental concerns (no government bureaucrat can, or will, husband the land as well as its owner) Aesthetics and scenic beauty Prestige in the community As many others as there are individual and potential owners Our basic philosophy is one of working with people to solve problems. We do not come with pre-conceived notions, inflexible demands or “cookie cutter” deals. Normally, our first act is to sit down with the client and assist him, if necessary, in determining specific goals and objectives. Our clients include owners, operators, bankers, lawyers, insurance and mortgage companies and others. We belong to an elaborate network of experts in every conceivable aspect of ranch management that we can call on any time a client needs an ethical, highly-qualified professional. These individuals represent a highly diverse number of fields ranging from range and pasture management, biotechnology, animal production and nutrition, genetics, environmental issues, market economists, accountants, financial planners, and many others. Many ranchers ranch with an emotional attachment because it is a “way of life” instead of a business. However, being able to successfully maintain that “way of life” depends upon how we approach the business side of ranching. If the business fails, the lifestyle disappears. We provide the specialized expertise needed to maintain sound business practices, manage production inputs and improve margins in order to keep an operation profitable and sustainable. We have the understanding of environmental issues needed for compliance with governmental regulations. We understand government activities that affect agriculture including taxation, regulations, legislation and subsidies. We value honesty and fair dealing in a manner which promotes the interest of our clients, their employees and shareholders. Our fundamental objectives include: Provision of professional assistance to ranch owners, and other caretakers of the land—including lessees, banks, insurance companies, attorneys, accountants, etc. Our intent is to help the owner maximize all types of returns from the ownership of ranch land in accordance with his/her personal goals and objectives, including all of the reasons to own ranchland listed just above.
